Silver hugging celluloid forms my memories of the past three months.

It's funny to think that when I die, my children will find these negatives that tell the story of my life more eloquently than ever I could. They will wonder what I did during those nights in the heart of Stockholm and imagine their father in the background behind the lens.

They will wonder at these negatives just as I wondered at them when I pulled them from the developing spool and marveled at the images that manifested themselves, images still dripping wet and slippery with photoflo.

These memories, these moments imprinted on silver hugging celluloid, that is why I still make pictures. To remember that which I couldn't remember otherwise. To embody the beauty of things and people that are forever fleeting and seeking their freedom.

But now I'm drunk again, and I need to sleep.

I shot a fashion series for Vice magazine in Warsaw. It was in April, and the day we arrived was also the day the president and most of the gouvernment died in the plane crash in Katyn. There was a pretty strange atmosphere in the city, people were waiting for hours to see the coffin of the president, most of them were sad. Luckily, the young polish people we hung out with didn't give a fuck about the president. It was a fun adventure in a sad place. I tried to make this contrast show in the pictures I took.

OK, its already middle of March but I thought I'd post my favourite photos from 2009. It's not easy to pick..

1.

chinatown, singapore. I have a thing for trying to capture people when they are alone. this woman looked a bit lost when she was waiting for a bus in singapore. i loved the blue wall, the arrow that is pointing at her and the red ribbon up to the left.

2.

amager beach, copenhagen, denmark. I got three norwegian friends to do some jumps for me.

3.

beijing, china. this old woman (she is not a man as some people have thought) is kicking a little thing called jianzi and she was really good at it.

4.

seoul, south korea. at this fountain in seoul a lot of kids were jumping around like crazy a hot day in august.

bonus. my favourite holga 120mm photo

roskilde music festival, denmark. it was dusty, hot and people just randomly dancing around outside a tent where major lazer was playing.

why? I tried to use flashes for the first time, and it turned out a lot better than I expected. And then I finally won over my teatcher who gave me highest grade and didn't complain about how "arty" my work was, haha.

why? Because this girl is amazing and this picture really reminds me of this day and brings back great memories from that summer. It also has a lot of feelings captured in it.

1. The parking garage at the Birsta Shopping centre outside Sundsvall, really just a horrible place to be, people and consumerism everywhere. Although i enjoyed the newly built parking house a lot, the weather was great + I had a lot of fun at the security guards that were watching me as i walked around taking pictures (flickr set), I guess they thought I was going to jump from it or something. One of them stood behind a wall watching me, as soon as i turned around he took a step back so I wouldn't be able to see him.

2. A boy i shot when I was hanging around with these 13-15 year old boys they were all idunno, "tough guys?" Doing nothing and writing horrible grafiti everywhere talking a lot about sex and drugs even though they were just 13-14 years old and probably never tried either, riding mopeds being assholes. The one in the picture didn't seem to like the situation, i felt like he felt like he didn't want to be there at all, just playing along with the other people cause he had nothing better to do.

3. A bird at Brighton Beach, Coney Island, shot from the pier, I miss New York so much, I just want to pick up everything good I have here, all the people, and just move them... and myself.. there, which I guess about 99% percent of all people want... but I mean.. it's new york, who can resist it?

(Also I'd like to clarify that I usually don't spend a lot of time with 14 year old kids ^^, I approached them because of an assignment. Really interesting experience though, they were the opposite of who I was at that time, I was inside at the computer, playing WoW, they're the people I would have been to uncool to be with if I'd have wanted to.)

There is ferry terminal in Yokohama, outside Tokyo that was built in 1994. lots of wood and interesting architechture for sure. I went there a quite warm and sunny day in January.

I got myself a new camera, an Olympus XA2 to be precise. Just got the first roll (kodak gold 200) developed and scanned, a lot was out of focus, due to me not being quite familiar with the 3-zone focus system it has, some of them were drunk friends urinating, and a lot was just frames I shot just cause i was anxious to see how they would come out.

A typical first roll with a new camera.

The shots that were properly exposed and without flash had a nice tone to them, clear colours, even though i just shot plain kodak gold 200 so i think i'll be happy with it as soon as i figure out the 3-zone focus system and in which situations automatic exposure works or not.

This one came out pretty good though.
